Discussion on unity through culture held

A one day discussion on the theme unification of society through culture jointly organised by United Peoples' Administrative Council (UPACO) and KM Blooming Association was held today at the Community Hall, MMRC/Unity Park, Khangabok.
District and Session Judge, Thoubal S Imocha; former member of Manipur Human Rights Commission, Advocate Ng Nongyai; Principal of Manipur College, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh; chairman of KM Blooming Association, Kh Menjor Mangang; president of UCM Y Nabachandra, president of UPACO M Premjit and chairman of Ringpam village, Yaipio Tangkhul attended the session as the presidium members.
Khogendra Khomdram, editor of Sangai Express (Manipuri) delivered a speech as the chairperson of the session.
Khogendra Khomdram said that loss of cultural values resulted in declining moral values of the people.
He also observed that deviation from cultural practices induce various crimes in the society like violence against women.
Leaders of different civil society organisations and school students of Thoubal district attended the discussion programme.
Students of different institutions also presented colourful cultural dances during the programme.
Renowned singer, Baby Chanchan also enthralled the gathering by presenting folk songs.
Speakers of the programme underlined the importance of culture as a unifying force of the society.
