World AIDS Day observed in different districts

Bishnupur District observed World AIDS Day 2018 at Kwakta Community Hall today with the theme "Know Your Status".
The programme was organized by District AIDS Prevention & Control Committee in association with NCPI+ AHANA Project, Bishnupur and MLA Office, Moirang.
The general public, students and teachers from different schools organized rally to disseminate the message of AIDS and create public awareness about the disease.
Addressing the public on the occasion, Chief Guest P Saratchandra Singh (MLA) urged the people not to discriminate the people living with HIV but take part in spreading the much needed awareness among the younger generations.
"You should develop positive attitude and never give up doing good deeds" he said.
The chief guest also gave away prizes of the district level painting competition organized on November 29 with the theme "Know Your Status".
Md Sahid Khan of Anita Standard English School, Kwakta stood first position while Md Man Ahmad of Anita Standard English School, Kwakta and Md Zewar Rahaman of Kwakta High School were placed at 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
The first, second and third position holders of the competition were awarded Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 respectively while a consolation prize of Rs 500 was given to the 4th and 5th position holders.
Dr T Manihal Singh, Chief Medical Officer and Md Maherrudin, Chairperson, Kwakta Municipal Council also graced the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
Meanwhile, a lecture programme on the topic "Educational Motivation on Parents and Students" was conducted at JNV Bishnupur in connection with World AIDS Day today.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Social Scientist spoke as resource person on the said topic and appealed the parents, teachers and students to have transparency and the democratic understanding.
He also described the role of three pillars - parents, teachers and students in education.
It may be mentioned that the programme was organised under "Pace Setting Programme" which is an extension service programme of the Vidyalaya rendering to the public of the district.
Parents and students of surrounding villages have also attended the programme.
Tengnoupal: A rally was organized in connection with "World AIDS Day" today at around 8 am in Moreh Town by various NGOs that are working on prevention of HIV & AIDS and that are based in Indo-Myanmar Border Town Moreh including DPU-B, OSOM, New Generation and OSD.
The rally was flagged off by Additional Superindentent of Police K Robinsun and SDPO Sandip Gopal Das from OSOM office, Moreh Ward no 7 and marched till Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 in which Moreh police personnel and CDO officers also took part in the rally.
A Red Ribbon campaign was also held later at the end of the event.
Jiribam: Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA), Jiribam District Committee and Joint Ema Meira Paibi, Jiribam jointly organized a mass rally from Babupara, Jiribam District to Jirighat Police station in neighbouring state Assam in connection with "World AIDS Day-2018" today.
TIPTEEDS Jiribam, Sunrise Club and CWA Jiribam organized the full function of World AIDS Day at TIPTEEDS Conference Hall later.
The mass rally was participated by students of different schools of Jiribam District and Students organisations which started from Babupara Jiribam District and culminated at Jirighat Police Station, Assam holding placards which read as "No to drugs, yes to life", "What are you doing in war against AIDS?", "Stop drugs buyer and seller of No 4 heroin" and "Yoo yonba leppashi, Yoo thakpa leppashi" during the rally.
Regarding the mass rally, Nongthombam Kumari Devi, General Secretary, CADA, Jiribam District Committee said that youth of Jiribam, who are the future of the society, are gradually starting to take drugs and alcohol while adding that substance abuser cannot think of their future not to mention the society and their education.
As such, the public should extend every possible help and support to every movement initiated by CADA, Jiribam District Committe and Joint Ema Meira Paibi, Jiribam, she added.
She also praised the pro-active role of Jiribam District Police and Jirighat Assam Police who have agreed to provide security in holding the mass rally while appreciating the students and all students organisation for participating in the rally.
Later, MO Dr M Rina Devi, Dr Thangsapao Kamei, RK Robinsana Singh, Pradhan Dibong G P and RK Bijoysana attended the function organized by TIPTEEDS Jiribam, Sunrise club and CWA Jiribam at TIPTEEDS Conference Hall as Chief guest, President and Guest of hpnour respectively.
