Over Rs 21 lakh withdrawn with forged account, MHRC takes up case

The Manipur Human Rights Commission has taken up a case under the provision of section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993, regarding a case of fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 21 lakh from a bank in Imphal.
A complaint petition has been filed by one Ningthoujam Thoiba Singh with the Manipur Human Rights Commission claiming that a Government cheque of Rs 21,09443 issued by the Executive Engineer, Chandel Division, PWD in his name has been allegedly withdrawn by some unknown persons from the Imphal Urban Co-Operative Bank, Sangakpham by opening a forged account in his name, said a statement of the MHRC.
Thoiba had earlier lodged a complaint with the City police, Imphal West for registering FIR against the Executive Engineer, Chandel Division, PWD as well as the unknown culprits on September 29 .
He had also filed a written complaint to the DGP Manipur for appropriate direction to the city police regarding the case.
However, there has been no development in the case, according to Thoiba, said the MHRC.
The Manipur Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the DGP asking him to submit a report on or before December 21 regarding the case, said the statement of Acting Chairperson MHRC, Khaidem Mani today.
