Drivers Union restricts ferrying of goods and passengers privately along NH 102

Imphal-Moreh Drivers Union has announced a restriction on ferrying of goods or passengers privately along National Highway 102 .
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Thounaojam Khedajit, audit of Imphal-Moreh Drivers Union, stated that following the sudden outbreak of communal conflict on May 3, all the vehicles of the Union have stopped plying along the highway as a precautionary measure.
"In the time when members of the Union have ceased their work due to the recent civic disturbances, some people thinking only of money have been transporting goods and passengers along the highway", said Khedajit while urging all concerned to stop transporting all forms of goods and passengers along the highway with immediate effect.
He continued any individual/ group found violating the restriction imposed by the union, would be held responsible for any untoward incident in the future.
Expressing concern over the prevailing law & order situation in Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh, Khedajit further appealed to the State Government to take immediate action to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
