Many continue to extend relief items to the people who have been displaced by the recent outburst of communal conflicts in the State.
In continuation of the humanitarian aid provided to the people affected by the recent civic disturbances, Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) today distributed relief materials to the shelter camps opened at Ithai Khunou High School and Kumbi Awang High School.
Many people from Ch'urachandpur, Waikhurok, Torbung and Phoubakchao Ikhai are currently taking refuge at the two relief camps.
The president of UAL has informed that despite assistance from various individuals & groups, the relief camps are facing shortage of various essential items including food and medicine.
UAL has urged the Government to provide necessary assistance to help the people who have been forced to leave their homes and are taking shelter at the relief camps.
Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association, Manipur Equestrian Association and Manipur Pony Society have also distributed relief materials to the shelter camps opened at Kumbi, Thanga, Nambol and Moirang.
Representatives of the three associations jointly began the relief material distribution drive today morning from Manipur Pony Breeding Farm in Lamphelpat.
The Wine Group (TWG), Manipur has distributed relief materials to 6 relief camps namely Ibudhou Thangjing campus, Moirang; Emerging Relief Camp, Wangjing; Emergency Relief Camp Angtha Awang Leikai, Yairipok; Relief Camp, Naorem Birahari College; Keibi Awang Leikai Relief Camp and Keibi Heikakmapal Relief Camp.
Meanwhile, to help the people displaced by the recent turmoil, Fiction & Poetry Club, Manipur today launched a drive to distribute books written by different authors from Manipur.
On the first day, a team led by the club's former president Imojit Ningombam and vice president Thoudam Netrajit distributed books including novels, short stories, travel books, drama and poems to the relief camps opened at Phubala High School, Phubala; Sunusiphai Upper Primary School and Thamnapokpi Upper Primary School.
The club has appealed to all the writers and authors of Manipur to kindly donate their books at the office of Fiction & Poetry Club located in Yaibirel Communications, Uripok Khwai Brahmapur, opposite Cheirap Court.
