Schools offer free education to riot-hit students

Kindergarten Mon-tessori School director cum principal Dr Longjam Dhaneshwar has announced free admission and exemp-tion of others fees till Class XII for students displaced or affected by the violence in the state.
In a press meet held at the school's Takyel Kolom Leikai campus on Saturday, Dr Dhaneshwar said that considering f the difficulties faced by parents/guardians, the school will be exempting admission and hostel fees for students till Class XII, who lost their parents in the violence or whose houses have been burnt down.
In addition, students who have been displaced but are in possession of their books and clothes, will be allowed to study for free for one session, while the fees for the month of April and May will be ex-empted for the students al-ready enrolled in this school.
Only half of the tuition fee for the upcoming session will be levied, while also providing existing concession to the unfortunate students and free education till Class XII for only girl child, he added.
Meanwhile, van drivers of the school also announced to take only half the amount of fee from the affected stu-dents.
Alpha and Omega School, Porompat has also offered free admission and tuition fee for violence-hit students from pre-nursery to class 9 .
In a release, School princi-pal L Deven Singh informed that the fees will be borne by School founder Waheng-barn General Singh who is a retired advocate of High Court of Manipur, adding that the School affiliated to Board of Secondary Edu-cation, Manipur has hostel facilities as well.
