Many stage sit-ins to support COCOMI's protest call

Imphal, May 20 2023:
Supporting CO-COMI's call for launching democratic protests to de-nounce activities of Kuki So0 outfits and oppose de-mand for separate adminis-tration, many staged sit-in protest in different areas across the valley districts on Saturday.
Speaking in this regard, COCOMI assistant coordi-nator Joychandra Konthou-jam questioned where have all the central leaders who frequented the state before election gone.
Those who pledged for the welfare of the people are nowhere to be seen when people are in dire need, he denounced.
While stating that the 10 Kuki MLAs should withdraw the demand for separate administration immediately or else the government should dis-qualify them, he cautioned that people will launch intense form of protest against the government.
He further appealed to withdraw ban on internet because of the crisis as it compounds problem faced by the people and students, banks and business persons.

Khurai Apunba Lup and Khurai Angom Leikai Meira Paibi staged sit-in protest at Yumjao Lairembi Mandop Khurai Angom Leikai; Kangleipak Chanura at Kwakeithel Hei-noukhongnembi Thokchom Leikai; Taothong Yaipha Thourang Nupi Lup, Tao-thong Semgat Sagat Apun-ba Lup, Women Dance and Dramatic Union Taothang and Sunshine Youth Club at Taothong Ayungba Mayai Leikai community hall; Kangmong Apunba Meira Paibi at Kangmong Mais-nam Maning Leikai com-munity hall; Pourabi Yaipha Naharol Kanglup, Pourabi Nupi Lamjing Lup, Pourabi Raising Star Club, Pour-abi Development Club at Pourabi; Leishemlon Marup and Pishum Keithel Board at Pishum Keithel Chin-gamakha Manipur College Road; All Manipur Nupi Marup Khurai and Apun-ba Meira Paibi at Khurai Laikhurembi; Top Youth Club at Top Iril Mapal Po-rompat and Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Association (MIKHYA) along with clubs in Mayang Imphal Konchak at MIKHYA ground.
Similar protests were also held at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai, Mani Yaiskul, Waiton Pangei Mamang, Wangkhei Hi-jam Leirak, Wangkhei Mei-houbam Lampak, Ningth - emcha Karong, Top Mayai Leikai, Singjamei Naorem Leikai, Terakhongsang-bi, Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Langthabal Phura Makhong, Langthabal Pan-thoibi Lampak, Langthabal Thong Ahanbi, Langthabal Thong Amanbi and Sagol-band Tera Yambem Leirak among others.
On Friday too, sit-ins organised by local organ-isations were staged at/ near Thangmeiband college gate, Lairikyengbam Leikai Salan Leirak community hall, Lairikyengbam Awang Leikai, Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai, Ching - meirong Maning Leikai Sinam Shyama Devi town hall, Khurai Heigrumak - hong , Soudongpung Lam-pak Wangkhei Kongba, Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Singjamei Chinga Mathak, Khagempalli Irom Pukhri Mapal, Kwakeithel Thok-chom Leikai, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi anc Sagolband Sayang.
Meanwhile, women ven-dors of Khwairamband Kei-thel ceased the day's wort on Friday and staged sit- ir protest demanding revo-cation of SoO with Kuk: militants and collective stand to defeat attempt for disintegrating unity of Manipur at Khwairambanc Keithel.
The protesters shoutec slogans including 'No sepa-rate administration in Ma-nipur', 'Revoke SoO wits Kuki militants', 'Dowr with Narco -terrorism' one 'Immediate NRC, need of the hour' among others.
In Kakching district sit-in protest was stagec at Ibudhou Naohalla: Laimang, Kakching Keithel The protest jointly or-ganised by Kakching Bazaai Business Welfare Associ-ation and Kakching Kei-thel Apunba Ima Lup hac the participants shoutini slogans and holding plac-ards demanding protectior of state's integrity, con-trolling Kuki militants un-der SoO, implementatior of NRC in Manipur at the earliest, resettlement of displaced people, etc.
