Thoubal rally echoes with 'deport all illegal migrants' call

A mass peace rally was carried out today in Thoubal district urging for protection of the State's integrity and demanding restoration of peace and sanity in the State.
The rally was jointly organised by Coordinating Committee of Clubs and Meira Paibis of South-Eastern Manipur (the committee was recently formed by the people of the affected areas of May 3 incident), Nongpok Lallup Meitrabak, Thoubal district and locals clubs and organisations of Thoubal district.
Thousands partook in the peace rally which started off from Thoubal Haokha Lampak and culminated at the starting point after passing through Thoubal Bazar and DC Thoubal complex.
The representatives of the organisations also submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subhash enlisting a number of demands.

Coordinating Committee of Clubs and Meira Paibis of South-East-em Manipur Convenor, S Yaiphaba said that the mass peace rally is being carried out urging for peace and sanity in the State which is going through a turmoil after the May 3 communal violence.
He further informed that the Prime Minister has been urged to take up immediate measures to protect the lives and properties of Meitei/ Meetei community of the State and to bring an amicable solution for peaceful co-existence and communal harmony in Manipur.
He further informed that the ground reality of the present situation of the State and the cause of the unfortunate communal clash which erupted on May 3 have been clearly mentioned in the memorandum which have resulted in wide-scale destruction of properties, killings, arson etc rendering thousands homeless.
A list of demands have also been raised in the memorandum which are as follows
- The integrity of Manipur should be protected and preserved
- The separate administration demand of the Kukis should not be considered under any condition
- All the illegal immigrants should be deported to their country after verification and proper implementation of NRC at the earliest
- Meitei/Meetei community shall be included in the list of Scheduled Tribes of the Indian Constitution for protection of the indigenous people of Manipur
- Delete the term 'Any Kuki/any Mizo tribes' from the Scheduled Tribe list of Manipur
- Make the base year of ILP as 1951
- Make necessary arrangements for resettlement of displaced Meitei/Meetei people by providing adequate compensation
- Disqualification of 10 Kuki MLAs who have demanded a 'separate administration' and take up necessary legal actions against them
- Withdraw the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants
- Drive out Myanmar based militants of People Defence Force (PDF) who were involved in the May 3 violence from the State
- Protect all National Highways (which are frequently disturbed by Kuki militants) by deploying Highway Protection Force in Manipur
- Check and destroy poppy plantations of suspected Kuki militants in hill districts
- Protect and preserve the reserved and protected forests and historical and sacred sites.
