Imphal, May 20 2023:
Like Minded Political Parties (LMPP) and United Political and Social Forum (UPSF) Manipur have questioned the lack of action by relevant authorities on the ten Chin-Kuki MLAs calling for a separate administration.
UPSF Manipur chairman Soram Iboyaima strongly questioned the silence of the Assembly Speaker and the parties who handed out party tickets to these ten MLAs while speaking to media persons during a press conference held at LMPP and UPSF head office located at Ghari Awang Leikai today.
Reacting to the lack of action, he further asked if the demand for a separate administration does not hurt the integrity of both India and Manipur.
The recent communal flare-up was caused by a democratic imbalance brought on by flawed foreign policies and botched implementation of The Foreigners' Act (1946) by the double-engine BJP Government, Soram Iboyaima maintained.
There is a double-engine Government at the helm but no law and order.
People cannot see any trace of a functional State administration in the present scenario, he further said.
While highlighting the confusion surrounding the imposition of Article 355 in the State, he also questioned the treatment meted out to armed groups from Myanmar by the Central Government.
The UPSF chairman asked if the Central forces have confiscated their weapons or if these groups are allowed to run free.
Claiming that these armed groups from Myanmar have teamed up
with Kuki militants under SoO, he questioned if the Indian Intelligence were unaware of this development.
Speaking at the press conference, H Gitajen, convenor, LMPP and UPSF asserted that armed Kuki miscreants must immediately put a stop to all violent acts targeting a particular community while adding that it is time for all indigenous communities of the State to unite.
He stated that Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO), Aizawl had reportedly submitted a memorandum to the United Nations Organization (UN), New York which allegedly presented an inaccurate version of Manipuri history.
Accusing ZORO of aiding gun toting groups while submitting a document that might depict the Meitei community in a bad light, he further questioned if ZORO is ready to be held accountable for the unrest.
Thus, he strongly condemned the memorandum and cautioned against spreading misinformation about the history of Manipur, painting the people of Manipur in a bad light and any act that will incite further unrest in the State.
H Gitajen advised ZORO to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of the State.
