Looting of HIV/AIDS centres condemned

MACS Partner NGO's Forum (MPNF) has condemned vandalising and looting of two HIV/AIDS dedicated centres in Churachandpur district during the communal conflict on May 3 and 4.In a release, Forum presi-dent Vikram Nepram informed that apart from vandalising and torching the institutes, important documents, fur-niture, computer and other valuable equipment were also looted.
While condemning the attack on institutes dedicated to human health, the presi-dent reiterated that hospital and other institutes that serve for the ill and wounded were never vandalised or disturbed even during world wars.
Pointing out that HIV/ AIDS does not discriminate any humans based on caste, creed or religion, the president appealed to authorities con-cerned to provide security at such institutes so as to prevent similar attacks in future.
He also requested all section of the society to not destroy or harm any medical institutes during conflicts.While condemning vandalising of an institute dedicated to control HIV/ AIDS under FSWs/FIDUs (core composite) project which has served Churachandpur district for over twenty years, Pro-gressive People's Organisation (PPO) has appealed parties concerned to leave institutes and services related to health sector unharmed during con-flicts or violence.
In a release, PPO informed that apart from vandalising the institute the miscreants also destroyed the staff quarters and looted valuable items in-cluding laptops, desktop sets, metal almirah, furniture, etc.
PPO urged authorities con-cerned to provide security for protection of health care insti-tutes so as to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
