Imphal, May 20 2023:
Sagolband AC MLA, RK Imo has appealed to all the people of Manipur to give peace a chance and not get pressured from outside forces and insurgent groups.
In a release, RK Imo also urged all the people who have left their homes to come back and live at their respective places across the State and help bridge the divide caused by the recent incidents.
"Let the people from both the hills and valley resettle peacefully in their respective places, where they have been residing as families and friends", he added.
The MLA shared that following the series of unfortunate events since May 3, 2023.many innocent lives have been lost and properties have been destroyed across the State.
Pointing out that thou-, sands of people have been displaced due to the recent turmoil, he mentioned that the first priority for the Government was to get everyone to safety and save as many lives as possible.
He continued that with most of the stranded people brought to safety for the time being, the focus is now shifted to bring back peace & normalcy in the State.
Highlighting that there is a lot of mistrust amongst everyone right now, he urged the Government to conduct an independent inquiry leading to the big incident on May 3 .
"There should be an inquiry from the top level appointed by the Government for a fact finding mission for the incidents on May 3.Every involved person or organisation should be punished severely for the instigation, leading to loss of lives and properties across the State", he added.
Stating that slowly but surely, one will be able to see the real pictures soon, the MLA said, "Recently there have been new political developments with a new set of demands.
With the State Government led by CM meeting the Home Minister in Delhi, and subsequently the announcement that the territorial integrity of the State will be protected and there will be no alteration at any cost, the fear amongst the people of the State would be a lot calmer" .
Raising questions over the new demands, the MLA said, "Did they force these incidents to happen in order to seek these new demands?; Is this their actual and real demand, did they let the incidents happen on May 3 under the pretext of the earlier one to ask for this new demand?; Are all of the signatories doing it willingly or
being forced to do so by pressure groups?; Who is responsible for the loss of so many lives in the State? Were all these pre-planned to show it as a sacrifice to seek this new demand?" .
He asserted that the first step to bring peace & normalcy in the State should be to withdraw the SoO with the insurgent groups as they have violated the rules by openly flaunting and shooting their firearms to the public and security forces.
RK Imo also urged the Central Government to oversee the illegal armed foreign groups crossing the Indian border into Manipur immediately as it is a threat to the Nation's internal security.
Highlighting that Manipur is a State with more that 2000 years of history with its own unique cultural identity, he said, "Any movement from outside force and illegal immigrants with such demands through their pressure groups will not be acceptable and tolerated at any cost" .
"I stand for a United Manipur with the territorial integrity of the State protected.
Every indigenous person is welcome to live in Manipur peacefully, but those who seek new pastures and demands may do so in another place, another State, another country", asserted RK Imo.
