Thoubal rally calls for ending SoO pact

Thousands of people turned up for the "Peace ral-ly" organised by Coordinat-ing Committee of Clubs and Meira Paibis of South-Eastern Manipur in association with Nongpok Lallup Meitrabak, Thoubal district, various or-ganisations of Thoubal and public to press their 15-point demand which include ab-rogation of So0 agreement with Kuki militants, inclusion of Meitei in the ST list and disqualification of the 10 Kuki MLAs among others.
The rally which kick-started from Thoubal Haokha Lampak proceeded towards Thoubal Bazar and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Prime Min-ister of India to the Thoubal deputy commissioner at his office before returning to the starting point.

Speaking to media per-sons in connection with the rally, Committee con-venor S Yaifaba informed that other points mentioned in memorandum included -protecting the integrity of Manipur, asking the govern-ment not to endorse demand for separate administration for the Kukis, deportation of the illegal immigrants to their place of origin and implementation/update of National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the earliest.
Maintaining that the Meitei people's yearning for reconciliation and peaceful co-existence should not be interpreted as weakness, Yaifaba said that the public will not remain silent if the indigenous people contin ued to be demonised for no fault of theirs.
