Imphal, May 20 2023:
Questions have been raised within Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh on its stand on the present crisis and issue regarding the demand for a separate administration raised by 10 Kuki-Chin MLAs.
MLAs, Ministers and party leaders within the party have started urging the BJP Manipur Pradesh president to take a concrete stand and make them known to the Centre and the public, said sources.
Notably, amid the conflict between two communities, 10 MLAs, including 7 of BJP, had urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi recently to create separate administration for Kuki-Chin people.
Now.
several leaders and members of the State BJP have started questioning the leadership about the party remaining silent on the issue.
There appears to be a rift within the party on the present issues, said the sources.
While some of the members are keen on taking actions and making known the State BJP's stand on the present crisis including on the issue of demand for separate administration, some are against the idea asserting that it is early for taking such decisions, added the sources.
According to the sources, some of the members are not happy with the way the Central leadership have reacted to the Manipur crisis.
Notably, the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and no Union Minister have visited Manipur since the violent clashes erupted on May 3 .
Even though Chief Minister N Biren Singh, some Cabinet Ministers and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sarda had gone to Delhi and held talks with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the State BJP Unit and its president have not made known their stand to the public on the issues.
The sources said that during a clash in Bengal which saw several deaths, the BJP Central leadership was quick to visit the State and condemn the violence.
However, the PM has not even Tweeted about the Manipur crisis till today.
On the other hand, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has sent a delegation of a high powered committee to Manipur to take stock of the situation, the sources added stating that BJP Manipur Pradesh should also make known its stand on the present crisis.
It should state clearly its stand on the demand for separate administration raised by the 10 MLAs and actions it would take against its MLAs, the sources said.
