Imphal, May 19 2023:
The demand for immediate abrogation of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militant groups is ever growing with more and more people coming out in support of the demand.
Thangmeiband Apunba Nupi Lup (THANIL), Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai, Kabrabam Leikai, Hijam Leikai, Lourungpurel Leikai and Apunba Meira Paibi today jointly staged a sit-in protest near THAU Ground, Thangmeiband under the aegis of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
Speaking to media persons, Brajeshwari Laipubam, general secretary THANIL, shared that many people belonging to the Meetei community have been displaced and are taking shelter at various relief camps after their houses were torched and vandalised by armed Kuki militants.

She continued that amid all the chaos, the Central Forces deployed in the State have done nothing to deter the Kuki militants from attacking civilians and burning houses in villages on the outskirts of the valley.
"If the Government and Central security forces are not able to protect people at the villages in the outskirts and relief camps, womenfolk will take it upon themselves to protect the vulnerable people", she added.
Conveying sympathy to the people affected by the recent conflict, Brajeshwari mentioned that THANIL has been providing relief materials to the shelter camps and will continue to do so in the future.
