Muslim villagers rescue abducted Meitei man

Muslim people of Kwakta village in Bish-nupur district rescued a Meitei man who was re-portedly abducted by sus-pected Kuki militants at gunpoint, on Friday.
The rescued Meitei man has been identified as Naorem Robindro (49) son of N Chandra of Pangan Lamkhai Ward number 8 but currently residing at Kwasiphai in Bishnupur district.
According to local source, Robindro along with a Muslim friend went to Pholzang, a village in the foothills west of Kwakta Bazar which is inhibited by both Kuki and Muslim community, to buy some vegetables, on Friday morning.
While they were buying vegetables, some armed persons suspected to be Kuki militants abduct-ed Robindro on gunpoint, leaving the Muslim friend.
The Muslim friend im-mediately contacted Rob-indro's family and Mus-lim bodies of Kwakta.
The Muslim community led by Kwakta ward number 8 councillor contacted the chief of Pholzang village and requested for the re-lease of Robindro to avoid unwanted incidents in the area.
Subsequently he was rescued, the local source added.
