Imphal, May 19 2023:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) said that the main cause of the present crisis in Manipur is the Suspension of Operation (So0) signed by the Centre and the state government with militants formed and led by immigrants from Myanmar, who became citizens of India either by force or at gunpoint.
According to a statement of COCOMI, wealthy foreign drug lords were also involved in triggering the communal clash but unfortunately they are unaffected by the clash and losses on part of them were very little.
The clash caused irrepa-rable damage only to the indig-enous people belonging to Kuki tribe like Khongsai, Thadou, Vaiphei, Hmar and Paite who lived for years in Manipur and to the common valley people, COCOMI said and appealed to entire indigenous communities of Manipur to think deeply into the present crisis and reach an understanding to bring back peace and normalcy.
Overwhelmed by sentiment, some mobs emerged in the val-ley in the first few days of the conflict but none of the indige-nous communities living in val-ley area were affected.
However, 10 elected Kuki MLAs presented a wrong report to the Centre that no tribal are left in Imphal after the clash and no Meetei in the hills.
The acts of the Kuki MLAs indeed made clearer their long drawn agenda to disintegrate Manipur and they seem elated on executing their plan success-fully.
The fact, however, is that all the tribal brothers are living happily as usual in the valley and unaffected by the clash and the same has been pin-pointed to the Kuki MLAs by a prominent Kabui leader, COCOMI said.
While maintaining that now is not the time to propagate wrong narrative or false propaganda against each another, it stressed that immediate responsibility of all the communities should be towards relief, rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected people of both sides by bringing back peace and normalcy at the earliest.
