Imphal, May 19 2023:
Claiming that the conflict between Meitei and Kuki is orchestrated by people with vested interest, the Committee on Present Issue of Manipur (COPIM) has asserted that every Manipur needs to face the challenges being thrown against the land of Manipur and unity of the people together.
COPIM is formed by All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO) in collaboration with All Manipur Ethnic Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Manipur (PLAMPAM), All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), National Research Centre (NRC), Irabot Foundation Manipur (IFM), Youths Foundation for Fitness and Service Manipur (YOFFS), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO), All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre (AMMUC), Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), Meirapaibi Welfare Association of Kangleipak (MEPWAK) etc.
In a statement, COPIM said that the people of Manipur shouldn't take the situation in Manipur lightly.
Claiming that the ethnic clash taking place in Manipur is a result of conspiracy hatched by people with ulterior motives, COPIM said that every Manipuri living in both the hill and valley districts must stand together at this crucial time to protect the land and resources of the State.
Manipur belongs to all the indigenous communities of the State living in the hills and the valley and no one can break it, it added.
It claimed that a section of people, however, has been scheming to create animosity among the indigenous folks.
Saying that fighting 'among ourselves won't bring any good, COPIM said that Manipur will prosper only when there is unity among the people.
