Imphal, January 21 2014 :
Citing several anomalies including recruitment of candidates who did not attend viva voce in the recruitment process of Sub-Inspectors and Jemadars of which results were declared in 2010, Manipur Police Headquarters wrote to the State Government to invali-date the said results but to no avail.
An independent investigation conducted by The Sangai Express revealed that Police Hqs wrote to the State Government to invalidate the recruitment results after receiving a written intimation from the Recruitment Board Chairman about the anomalies and discrepancies committed in the recruitment process.
The Human Rights Alert too, sensing certain anomalies in the recruitment process, submitted a complaint to the Governor seeking befitting action.
However, the State Government only remained mute.
Based on a report given by the Recruitment Board Chairman, IGP (Administration) C Doungel wrote to the Chief Secretary on December 16, 2013 stating that there were many anomalies and discrepancies in the recruitment process of SIs and Jemadars and also to declare the results null and void.
Although questions for the recruitment test were not set by the recruitment board, answer sheets were examined by the board and the DGP.
The report given by the recruitment board chairman pointed out that educational certificates furnished by two selected candidates were forged ones.
The two selected candidates who submitted fake certificates have been identified as Mongjam Amarjit (SI, chest no 76) and Bisho Luwang (SI, chest no 766) .
Whereas Amarjit manipulated his date of birth, Bisho's certificate was a fake, said the chairman's report.
Even though four candidates did not attend the viva voce, their names were included in the selected list.
The four candidates who did not attend viva voce but still managed to clear the recruitment exam are N Ali Akhtar Shah (SI, chest no 143), Yambem Samananda (Jemadar, chest no 333), Ng Veipunii (SI, chest no 55) and Alex Lalminlun (WL-SI, chest no 21).Again during the physical fitness test, one candidate stumbled upon a teacher as his eyesight was defective while another could not speak properly due to stammering.
Md Sukur Ali (Jemadar, chest no 8) and BM Imran Hussain (SI, chest no 255) both suffering from impaired hearing capacity, P Kiran (SI, chest no 192 suffering from defective eye sight and Th Ronaljit (WL-Jemadar, chest no 217) who stammered were all selected.
Moreover, sports certificates of 36 candidates have not been confirmed yet by YAS Dept as the certificates they brought were not found in the department's record.
OBC certificates of some other candidates looked suspicious and they are being examined.
