Veteran scientists felicitated

Felicitation of veteran scientists of Manipur cum the RIST lecture series-3 was held today at the Seminar Hall of Manipur Press Club.
The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Association for the Promotion of Sciences (MAPS) and Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) Manipur.
Prof IS Khaidem, former VC of Manipur University; Prof M Dhaneshwar Singh, Dean, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, MU; Prof A Surjalal Sharma, Sr Scientist, Dept of Astronomy, University of Maryland, USA & Director of RIST Manipur and MAPS president Prof N Rajmuhon Singh attended the function as the chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
Former VC of Manipur University, Prof C Amuba Singh and Prof H Nandakumar Sarma, Vice-Chancellor of MU were the veteran scientists feted today.
Speaking at the function, Prof IS Khaidem called upon all concerned to develop innovative thinking on par with other countries and equip one's knowledge with the right amount of motivation.
Lauding the level of achievement attained by various students in different fields, Prof A Surjalal noted that the number of PhDs in Sciences is disproportionately higher when compared to other States.
In his speech, Prof H Nandakumar Sarma exhorted the youngsters of the State to work wholeheartedly and sincerely to usher in development in the country.
Stressing the necessity to impart education among the children, the VC said that the society should change its outlook so as to facilitate better growth and development of the nation.
Prof C Amuba urged the retired scientists to contribute their mites in order to bring their works livelier and motivate the younger generations.
