Saying that the miscreants mostly rob the properties of vendors, Shanti said that the vendors, at times, scolded the volunteers of KEDO out of frustration.
She further stated that the volunteers of KEDO have been waiting for the right moment to catch the thieves.
Further stating that the volunteers of KEDO caught two thieves red handed them today at around 2 am while the latter were trying to steal some items at Emoinu Ema Keithel (Khwairamband Keithel no 2), Shanti maintained that both the thieves are drug addicts.
Claiming that about 40/50 drug addicts are clubbing together at the adjacent areas of Khwairamband Keithel and they have been stealing from the people to take drugs, she said that even the police don't want to take custody of these drug users.
Questioning the effectiveness of the War on Drugs campaign as 'drugs are easily available in Manipur,' she urged the Government to initiate some concrete measures to prevent robbery at Khwairamband Keithel and also formulate a policy to end the drug menace which has hit society hard.
