Imphal, September 07 2022:
The Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has appealed to relevant authorities to address the issues of shortage of teachers and lack of adequate classrooms for students at Paobitek High School.
According to a statement, a team consisting of 5 members of FESOK led by Ronald Kenedy Longjam, vice president, FESOK Head Office carried out a survey at Paobitek High School.
During the course of the survey, the inspecting team found various inadequacies plaguing the school.
231 students are enrolled at Paobitek High School, however, the school only has 8 teachers and one assistant teacher, the statement shared.
Further it said that the school teaches students from Class I to X but unfortunately there are only three classrooms in the school.
Due to these unfortunate circumstances, students are able to attend classes only three days per week, it added.
Aside from this, the school has no toilet or kitchen facilities.
As such, the school students are yet to benefit from the mid-day meal scheme.
The statement also claimed that teachers of Paobitek High School came to the school and left at their whim without any regard for school hours and highlighted the lack of action from the school head master in this regard.
FESOK further pointed out that Paobitek High School is also one of the schools approved in the 2nd phase of School Fagathansi Mission by the State Government.
In view of these circumstances, FESOK has urged the relevant ZEO and Director of Education (S) to take up appropriate action and appealed to the Education Minister to actualise his assertion of completing the rationalisation process of teachers posting by October 2022 .
