Condition of hospital upsets Jiribam MLA

Jiribam MLA Md Ash-ab Uddin on Wednesday inspected the 50-bedded hospital at Ningshingkhul on Wednesday and expressed strong displeasure over the present condition of the only hospital in the district.
MLA Ashab Uddin told media persons after inspecting the hospital that OT, testing laboratory, X-ray machine of the hospital remain non-functional while there is no oxygen supply though beds are fitted with oxygen kits.
In view of this, people of the district are facing problem in getting proper healthcare facility, he said, adding that the chief minister and the health minister will be apprised about the matter for solving the problems.
He sought cooperation from people of the district in improving condition of the hospital.
In his reply to a query raised by media persons, MLA Ashab Uddin said that Jiribam constituency is his home and necessary requirements of his home including in health sector will be procured from the authority concerned.
Anticipating full support from the people in fulfilling requirements of the district, Ashab Uddin questioned as to how long people of Jiribam will rely on neighbouring state for medical treatment.
He noted that people of Jiribam faced numerous problems including money and language barrier when they go to Silchar (Assam) for medical treatment.
Saddened over learning that only four doctors and three/four nurses are currently posted at the 50-bed-ded Jiribam hospital, MLA Ashab Uddin said that it is impossible to run a 50-bedded hospital by only four doctors and three/four nurses and higher authority will be approached for upgrading the hospital to a full-fledged district hospital.
