Kangpokpi, September 07 2022:
The Bena Nguang (Thonglang Atongba) Village Authority has expressed its reservations against the appeal made by some individuals to the district administration to remove the sign boards of historical monuments within the village jurisdiction.
In a release, the village authority informed that every monument that stands within the jurisdiction of the village has great historical attachment and is the identity & pride of the villagers.
"It is the hereditary responsibility to protect and preserve the monuments since our forefather's time", it added.
The village authority stated that apart from putting up the name plates (sign boards), more prominent activities to protect and preserve those legendary monuments are in the pipeline.
"The monuments are many centuries old and were erected by superhuman legends and deities of the ancient Thonglang village", it added.
The village authority also claimed that the complainants were no longer residents of Thonglang areas and are in-fact instigators & trouble creators who have been misleading the peace loving people of Thonglang and adjoining areas.
The Thonglang Atongba Village Authority further urged the District Administrators to be more sensible in entertaining cases like this one.
"Such kind of absurdity will only provoke one another and disturb the peace", it concluded.
