Imphal, September 07 2022:
Indigenous People's Association Kangleipak (IPAK) celebrated its 9th foundation day and presented 'Kanglei-pakki Mama' titles to seven women passenger e-rickshaw drivers along with honouring them with cash and gifts during a function held at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, IPAK president Ksh Somorendro informed that it has been only nine years since the organisation adopted the IPAK nomenclature.
Earlier, the organisation was known as Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FRIENDS) and worked under this name for 19 years.
Since then, the organisation has been working on various issues related with the indigenous people of the state including the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), he said.
Continuing its campaigns and activities to protect the indigenous communities of Manipur, IPAK would soon launch 'Save Indigenous People' campaign, he informed, while calling for public support.
The president also called upon the people of the state to take up jobs and professions, which are being done by the outsiders, so that the outsiders would automatically return to their respective home states.
