Training prog on African swine fever held

Under the Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD) project, District Veterinary Office (DVO), Chandel organised a training programme on African swine fever (Economically Important Livestock Diseases) at Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) office on Wednesday.
The training programme was held with Veterinary and Animal Husbandry joint director (Planning) Dr Rk Khogendrajit Singh, MCM president M Thoiba, DVO Chandel specialist (piggery) Dr Kh Surchandra Singh, Moreh sub-divisional veterinary hospital deputy director Dr N Indira Devi and DVO joint director Dr P Krishnamohon as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Dr Khogendrajit pointed out that though rearing of pigs is highly profitable, African swine fever is one of the common diseases found in pigs and as such emphasis should be keeping the pigsty and surrounding areas clean and healthy.
The training programme was attended by piggery farmers of Moreh.
