Jiribam (Imphal East), November 17 2015:
The Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students' Union has resolved to close down the school starting today following the State Government's alleged inability to check the absenteeism of Jiribam Higher Secondary School teachers.
In a statement, the student union said that the State Government has failed to meet the demands of the union despite submitting repeated memoranda.
There is no point for the school to remain opened when there are no teachers.
Such a threat to the students' academic career should not be taken lightly by the State Government.
Required action should be initiated immediately to make the school efficient, the statement added.
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) also inspected Jiribam Higher Secondary School today.
Urging the State Government to look into the matter, KSA, Jiribam Branch warned of launching various forms of agitation if appropriate steps are not take up at the earliest.
