Sinam Bimol Singh who led the Manipur team (India B) to victory in the 8th Manipur Polo International 2014 hails from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Imphal.
Born on May 5, 1981, he is the son of Sinam Naba Singh who himself was an avid polo player and represented Manipur in the International Tournaments in the 1990s.For Bimol, it was as if he was destined to be a polo player given his family background as also his love for the game.
As Bimol recounts, "I have been riding a pony from a very young age and started playing polo soon after".
Another compelling reason for Bimol to take up polo playing was his desire to become an active participant in spreading the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.

Bimol has been participating in various polo tournaments since 1990, representing Manipur and his employer, the Manipur Police Sports Club.
In the fourteen tournaments, he took part in his team had emerged champion in twelve of them, which gives a fair indication of his calibre and talent as a polo player.
As for the Manipur Polo International Tournament, he has been leading the Manipur team since 2012 and in all these previous editions of this prestigious tournament, Manipur emerged victorious routing some very strong foreign teams comprising much higher ranked players.
A large part of this credit goes to Bimol, who beyond his invaluable contribution as a player also captained the side with a cool head and maturity.
Many polo enthusiasts in the state are eagerly looking forward to the 9th Manipur Polo International, to watch the exploits of Manipur team.
Bimol and his other team mates are putting every effort possible to rise to the expectations of the sports loving people of this land of ours.
