Preparation for Sangai Festival : Directorate of Transport comes out with regulation

The State Directorate of Transport has issued traffic regulations for the Sangai Festival slated to commence from Nov 21 .
Accordingly, entry and exit for both commercial and private/public vehicles will be restricted along Lamlong bridge.
Entry of commercial vehicles (auto rickshaws, Tata magic, wingers, buses, trucks etc) will be restricted along Minuthong bridge.
The restriction will be with an exception to vehicles related to Sangai Festival (transportation of stall materials, SLF ferry buses and security vehicles, etc) .
There will be one-way traffic system (from West to East only) for LMVs and two wheelers across Sanjenthong bridge excepting VVIP/VIP and emergency service/security vehicles.
Entry of commercial vehicles will be restricted across Old Thumbuthong.
These restrictions will come into force from Nov 19 till Nov 30 .
Heavy vehicles including passenger transport service vehicles will be diverted from- Kongba junction towards Ayangpalli road or Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Singjamei road; Yonglan Leirak East junction towards Kongba or Porompat sides along Ayangpalli road; Porompat Traffic point towards Kongba side or Lamlong side along Ayangpalli road and from Lamlong bazar towards Lamlong bridge, Dingku road or Ayangpalli road for Imphal East.
In Imphal West vehicles will be diverted from- Moirangkhom bazar traffic point towards Singjamei side or KP oil city, Moirangkhom side; North AOC towards Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak, Lamlong bridge; and from Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak towards Lilashing Khongnangmakhong, Watham Leirak/ Thangmeiband side.
Both sides of the road from Sanjenthong bridge-Thangal General statue traffic Island-Minuthong bridge and along the lane from Advance Hospital to Harikhagok Makhong crossing are declared no parking zones.
Andro parking, Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, NSK Club, Wangkhei road, Archaeology plot on Wangkhei road, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal circle, Ramji Prabhu School, RDS School and Wangkhei Girls' HS (New Model school) have been designated as parking lots.
Security officials will park their vehicles inside MFDC and MB College campus while officials and media (with valid car passes) will park vehicles inside City Convention Centre and CC Hr Sec school premises.
In connection with International Polo Tournament to be held at Mapal Kangjeibung, intermediate public transport vehicles including diesel autos should take right turn from the main road (Kangla Road) and enter M-Sector bylane and proceed towards Governor Road/Paona Bazar via Fire Brigade Road.
Further, parking of vehicles, other than VVIPs/VIP, organisers and invitees, etc, will not be allowed at Polo Ground Maning parking.
At the same time, for the smooth transportation of general public and participants for the Sangai festival, ferry bus service will be introduced in some designated routes.
There will be six designated ferry bus routes for Imphal West while there will be three designated ferry bus routes for Imphal East.
For Imphal West, the ferry bus will ply at a frequency of two hours and will commence from 12 noon.
Ferry bus will close at 9 pm after dropping the passengers at the starting points.
The starting points for Imphal West are Games Village junction, Malom Bazar, MU Gate, Mantripukhri, Shija Hospital junction and Govt Polytechnic gate.
One ticketting counter will be opened at Andro parking.
A flat fare of Rs 10 per person per trip will be charged (excluding children below 5 years) .
The starting points for Imphal East are Lamlong bazar, DC Imphal East, Porompat and Kongba junction.
The bus in Imphal East will ply at a frequency of one hour from 1 pm daily.
