Seminar on trafficking begins

A two-day seminar on women and child trafficking and protection organised by People's Development Agency (PDA) under the sponsorship of TRI Manipur began today at Adimjati Amity Hall, Chingmeirong.
Dr L Ibetombi Devi, Chairperson, MSCW and Aram Pamei, ex-president, NWUM attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr L Ibetombi said that abuse of drugs and mobile phone induced crimes against women are on the increase.
In order to overcome the rising crime against women and children, women of all sections need to join hands and reason together.
Expressing strong concern over the increasing cases of violence against women, Dr Ibetombi also stressed the need to spread awareness among all section of the society to stop such instances.
Pradip Kumar, chairperson, CWC Imphal West spoke on the overall situation on JJ Act and POCSO Act 2012 while Th Jaya Devi, member, MCPCR spoke on role of community in combating trafficking of women and children during the technical session.
