'GoI ready to start pol dialogue with Kukis'

Kangpokpi, September 16 2015: Political dialogue with the Kukis is expected to begin shortly with the assurance coming from the Union Home Ministry to the UPF and KNO delegates who are currently in the capital.

UPF Political Wing Convener Aaron Kipgen, who is one of the UPF and KNO delegates in Delhi, said while speaking over phone that the UPF and KNO delegates met RN Ravi, who is the Interlocutor of the Naga peace talk in the capital and discussed the political issues of the Kukis.

"The discussion with RN Ravi is carrying great weight for the Kukis", said the UPF Convener while adding that the UPF and KNO find it significant.

Aaron Kipgen further said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed readiness to start a political dialogue with the UPF and KNO and has put it to the Home Secretary to initiate political dialogue with the UPF and KNO at the earliest.

The UPF Convener said that the UPF and KNO, the two umbrellas of the Kuki UGs had decided to pursue one political demand in its joint meeting at Churachandpur on September 13 .

However, Aaron Kipgen shied away from disclosing what "political demand" the two umbrella organisations are going to pursue stating that it is too early to disclose it.

Lauding the collective and enthusiastic efforts of the Kuki civil societies, Aaron Kipgen said that all the affirmative and meaningful discussion between the Government of India and the UPF and KNO has been achieved from the unity of the Kuki civil societies including Church leaders, chiefs, etc.

Meanwhile, the UPF Political Wing Convener also said that the delegates of UPF and KNO also met the Tribal Forum, Manipur, Delhi in connection with the prevailing situation of Manipur and had weighty discussions on the issue while sharing opinions and approaches.

Aaron further said that the Central Government is likely to send its delegates to Churachandpur to take stock of the situation and take up proper steps in connection with the prevailing situation in Manipur.
