6 killed, 5 hurt in Tamenglong road mishap

Jiribam, September 16 2015:
Six passengers, including a woman were killed and five others injured critically when the vehicle in which they were travelling plunged into a deep gorge near Awang Khul Part-2 under Noney Police Station of Tamenglong district on Wednesday afternoon.
The fatal road mishap occurred at around 1:30 pm, according to a Jiri News Network report.
It said the ill-fated Tata Sumo van carrying 10 passengers was heading towards Imphal when the accident occurred.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector named Kunjaraj posted at the Jiribam Foreigner Check Post was among the dead.
The injured passengers including the driver of the vehicle were rushed to Imphal for treatment.
Personnel of 6th Sikh Regiment along with the villagers helped in the rescue effort and the injured were being sent to Imphal in an ambulance belonging to Coastal Company for treatment, the report added.
The death toll go up as condition of some of the injured passengers was stated to be critical.
A team of Noney Police Station rushed to the accident spot to rescue victims.
The bodies were being sent to Imphal for post mortem.
