400 trucks to leave for Imphal today

Over 400 loaded trucks which have been stranded along Imphal-Jiribam road will proceed towards Imphal tomorrow under tight security measures, our correspondent reports.
Meanwhile, Weight and Measures Department, Jiribam branch under an order from the State DGP has begun monitoring the weight of loaded trucks.
The DGP issued the order on September 7.Under the order from the DGP, two trucks have been stopped from moving ahead for carrying loads of over 24 tons.
The monitoring works are being carried out by Transport, Works, Weight & Measurement and BRO officials at Jiribam, Leingangpokpi and Barak area.
The measurement works, however, are done manually by these officials by calculating receipts produced by the drivers.
No machines have yet been installed for the purpose, this correspondent reports.
