Imphal, September 16 2015:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) said that the three Bills passed by the Assembly on Aug 31 were for the protection of indigenous people of the State and the Bills do not infringe on the rights and interests of the tribal brethren.
In a statement, AMSU said that Meiteis alone are not indigenous and all tribal communities of the State are indigenous.
The idea of segregation arises due to lack of understanding, it said while urging all concerned to uphold the State's integrity.
