AMWJU celebrates foundation day :: Selective news reading dangerous : Dy CM

The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) celebrated its 42nd foundation day at Manipur Press Club today.
Attending as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, during his speech said media persons ought to be careful in penning down news item for their respective paper or channel.
Nowadays people go for selective reading rather than details.
This could prove most dangerous in the present scenario, said the Deputy Chief Minister.
Stating that the misunderstandings regarding the three Bills may be due to selective reading, the Deputy CM said a clause by clause or section by section study of the recently passed Bills will show that the Bills do not harm tribal interest in any way.

The State Government has twice reached out to the stakeholders and civil societies based at hill areas for dialogues pertaining to the contents of the three Bills.
A third request shall be sent, if needed to solve the issue, Gaikhangam stated.
He has also appealed to media persons to maintain the ethics of the State on top of their professional ethics so that they could steer the society towards a better direction.
The programme was attended by Wangkhemcha Shamjai as president, Commerce and Industries, Sericulture and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Heingang Assembly Constituency MLA N Biren as guests of honour.
Many veteran journalists including AMWJU's former presidents and general secretaries were honoured with simple gifts during the event.
Attending as special invitee Dr L Shyamkishor, Sky Hospital, during his speech said a Best Journalist Award of the Year will be handed out from the year's end to honour jounalists.
The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a citation.
