Imphal, September 16 2015:
Agarwal Samaj on Wednesday categorically stated that no non-Manipuris were attacked and forced to leave the State during the recent ILP movement.
The clarification comes against the backdrop of some reports published in a section of national media that non-locals were being subjected to beatings in Manipur to leave the State.
Agarwal Samaj, Sikh Samaj, Bengali Samaj, Brahman Samaj, Bihari Samaj, Thangmeiband United Club and different communities organised a joint press meet at Kalibarai Community Hall here.
Agarwal Samaj representative Ashok Agarwal said a few skirmishes were reported over some different matters during the ILP agitation, but these incidents cannot be interpreted as actions against all non-locals in the State to push them back.

He said there is no opposition from non-Manipuris against the passing of the three Bills in the State Assembly which was meant for protecting the indigenous people.
Some groups of Bihari might have left the State as they were not aware about the agitation, he added.
It's not correct to judge the circumstances as using force against the few Biharis who had left the State in fear or out of ignorance.
They should not show it in a bad light, Ashok said.
He made it clear that all communities in the State have been living together in peace and harmony since years and urged all not to spread rumour to foment racial tension.
Thangmeiband United Club President Sinam Brojen highlighted the importance of sensitising all non-Manipuris in Khwairamband bazaar on the ILP movement.
He said the reports on forcing non-locals out of Manipur are baseless.
Manmit Singh of Sikh Samaj, Surindra Parik of Brahman Samaj and Bengali Samaj Secretary Babool Kangsa Banik and Sitla Prasad of Bihari Samaj were present during the press meet.
