Workers' Education Day

Central Board for Workers' Education (CBWE), Ministry of Labour and Employment and Central Board for Workers' Education, Regional Directorate observed the 57th Workers' Education Day at the conference hall of Directorate of Art and Culture today.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and Indian Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Manipur State branch president MK Preshow Shimray, District Planning Committee chairman Dr N Mohendra and AMCWF Chairman KK Singh graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
MK Preshow Shimray while speaking at the function said that workers' family income could be enhanced through skill development.
Although, it is not an easy task, workers may achieve success in their respective fields if they keep on developing their skills from time to time, he observed.
The Deputy Speaker further said that workers must also remain motivated and adopt work culture.
Dr N Mohendra said that workers also play a significant role in a democratic society adding that country would proceed towards development if its workers are educated and skilled.
Every country needs to organise skill development programmes for its workers to accelerate growth in different fields, he said.
Apart from honouring the trained achievers of CBWE, allowances were also distributed to the trainees of a training programme at the function.
HMS (MS) president Manihar Goswami, HMS vice-president K Thaibema and officials of CBWE were also present at the function.
Later, a discussion session on the topic, 'Promoting skill development of workers : Way to National Prosperity' was also conducted.
Ex-trainees, representatives of trade unions and NGOs took part in the discussion session.
