Imphal, September 16 2015:
A father has blamed some doctors of RIMS for the death of his child after delivery.
Sapam Jiten (37) of Khongjom Sapam Sabal Leikai expressed grief on Wednesday saying that the negligence of the doctors has ruined his life.
During a press meet at Manipur Pres Club, Jiten narrated the episode leading to the death of his child.
He said that his wife Shantibala (30) was admitted to RIMS on September 10 last for delivery.
He was told by the doctors on duty that there would be a normal child delivery.
Shantibala was then taken to RIMS Labour Room on the afternoon of September 12 around 3 pm.
But one doctor suddenly came out of the room to take his signature informing him that his wife required caesarian section since there was some problem in delivering the child.
Shantibala delivered the baby.
The mother and the child were given treatment separately at different rooms as the health condition of the child was reported to be abnormal.
Jotin further said that he tried to take the child to a private hospital after he suspected the negligence on the part of the doctors on duty at RIMS.
But his time was wasted time in processing documentation and registration.
He tried to take both his wife and child to a private clinic on September 12 for better treatment but he was again told by the doctors that the health condition of the mother was worsening and therefore she needed operation.
The doctors performed a second operation on his wife and took out her womb which experienced bleeding.
The newly born baby was taken to a private hospital, but died on September 13 .
Jotin alleged that the negligence of the doctors had caused the death of his child while leaving his wife without the womb.
A written report over the incident has been lodged with the RIMS Medical Superintendent who has assured that an enquiry report will be submited within two weeks, said Jotin.
He urged the RIMS authority to take action against the irresponsible doctors and take steps not to repeat such incidents in future.
