Bishnupur, May 26 2023:
An inmate of Phubala High School relief camp has reacted strongly against Chief Minister N Biren Singh's alleged statement claiming that people in relief camps are living in relative peace and calm.
The relief camp inmate who fled from her home in Churachandpur amid the eruption of violence, stated that displaced people are barely sleeping or eating and are plagued with worries about their bleak future.
Questioning in what way their current life in relief camps seems calm and peaceful, she maintained that the Chief Minister resting in his comfortable chair in an AC room can be said to have a peaceful life, however the displaced people have fled their homes with only the clothes on their backs, she rebutted.
"The Government has not extended any assistance to the relief centre here, is this what the Chief Minister means by calm and peaceful life?", she bitterly questioned.
Despite the Government's assurance to build a house for the displaced people, she pointed out that they also need stable jobs to lead normal lives again.
If the Government can provide appropriate jobs to all the displaced inmates, that would be a positive step for the future of our children, she added.
In this regard, she also questioned the Government about measures to rehabiliate the young children.
It may be noted that the inmate was speaking at a protest staged at the Phubala High School relief camp against the firing incident of May 24 which claimed the life of T Chandramani and left L Manosh injured.
Separately, a protest was also staged at Phubala Market Shed organised by Phubala Apunba Nupi Lup against the firing incident.
Another protest was held at Ithing Machin under Thanga Assembly Constituency organised by Apunba Nupi Chaokhat Lup, Ithing today.
