During the nearly two-hour long meeting, Com-mittee on Tribals Unity (COTU), Sadar Hills spokes-man K Sitlhou presented a detailed account on the violence, including alleged atrocities and crime com-mitted against the Kukis.
After listening to the griev-ances and perusing the video evidence presented by the COTU leader, Nityanand said that the Centre is for the peo-ple and justice will definitely be delivered while reminding all that with peace everything will be possible.
Meanwhile, Sambit Patra said referred to home minis-ter Amit Shah's remarks in a public event at Guwahati on Thursday that perpetrators of the violence will not be spared and justice will be done.
He also said that Amit Shah will visit Manipur for three days and meet all the stakeholders.
The Minister of State is preparing everything for the Home Minister's arriv-al so that he listens, hears you and brings a solution to your problems," said the BJP spokesperson, adding: "Today we are not talking about solutions because our Home Minister is the right man who would be talking about how we move ahead." Kuki women leaders, pres-ent at the meeting, also high-lighted atrocities and crime committed against innocent Kuki women to the two lead-ers and sought solutions.
Meanwhile, COTU's sit in protest ended at Leikop village in Kangpokpi district on Friday with hundreds of internally displaced peo-ple seeking the Centre's intervention in bringing a solution to the problems faced by the Kukis.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, COTU spokesman K Sitlhou conveyed "we had a very fruitful talk with our two central leaders today and we are hoping for solution to our problems soon".
Meanwhile, Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) Media Cell said that the Minister of State for Home Affairs and the BJP spokes-person made the tribal lead-ers at Lamka wait for over 3 hours and also changed the venue from 27 Sector AR Post to DC office in the last minute.
Consequently, the tribal leaders took it as disrespect and left without meeting the duo.
