MoS Rai, Women Market representatives meet Governor

Governor Anusuiya Ui-key on Friday held discussion with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai along with BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Pa - tra, who is also the party's Manipur in-charge, and rep-resentatives of three Women Markets (Ima Keithels) led by Ksh Shanti Devi and eight others at the Raj Bhavan, here.
The Union Minister, who is in the state to assess/take stock of the prevailing situ-ation in the aftermath of the violent clashes between two communities resulting loss of lives and large scale destruc-tion of properties, assured the Governor to extend all possible help to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

The meeting also discussed about the prevailing situation and security measures put in place to contain/prevent any violent and major untoward incidents.
On the other hand, rep-resentatives of three Women Markets urged the Governor to take all possible steps for restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
While expressing their anguish over the prevail-ing tense situation in the state, the delegation also opposed the demand for a separate administration stating that the move is against the ter-ritorial integrity and unity of the people of the Manipur.
Urging the Governor to implement NRC for flushing out illegal immigrants from Manipur, the team requested the Governor for confining So0 groups in their desig-nated camps and initiate steps for opening/lifting economic blockade along the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway for regular inflow of essential commodities.
The Governor assured the representatives for taking up all steps for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state and also informed the team that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Manipur to take stock of the situation.
The Governor also appealed to the representa-tives for taking a pivotal role in the move for restoration of peace and tranquillity.
