Imphal, May 26 2023:
The Salaicha Pibarel Punsi Marup (SPPM) has resolved to fight for the cause of Manipur even at the cost of their lives if the Central Government and the State Government do not bring a solution to the crisis besieging the State.
A large number of SPPM members today prayed at the premises of Apalba Ipa Ibungo, Sandrok for a solution to the ethnic crisis.
Later, they also held a meeting and urged the Central Government and the State Government to control the prevailing situation effectively at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, SPPM Secretary (Administration) Sanjit Sagolsem appealed to the Central Government and the State Government to put in all possible efforts so as to peace and normalcy in the State.
"We are deeply hurt by the cries of women and mothers coming from foothill and fringe villages who are demanding weapons for self-defence after they have been left to themselves by security forces at the mercy of marauding Kuki militants", he said.
Now SPPM would go to these places and help the villagers, he said.
"We have resolved to pay with our lives for the cause of Manipur", Sanjit said.
Calling upon all the ethnic communities of Manipur to promote peace, fraternity and harmony in the State, Sanjit appealed to all community leaders to talk with the Central Government and the State Government so as to bring peace and normalcy in the State.
"Let us all work together to restore peace.
No one should do anything that may escalate the situation", he said.
SPPM vice-president Yensenbam Romeo Meitei questioned the commitment of the MLAs to the cause of Manipur.
He urged the MLAs to ensure that illegal immigrants do not become masters of the land.
Hailing MLA L Rameshwor's decision to fight for the integrity of Manipur, Romeo said that the SPPM is fully prepared to follow his leadership.
