Public meeting held at Phayeng

Rural United Clubs Organisation (RUCO) today organised a public meeting at Phayeng High School in Imphal West District.
It was attended by Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam; RUCO president Kh Lokendro; Phayeng Awang Laibung khullakpa, Ningthoujam Joyai Chakpa and ex-Minister N Biren as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Karam Shyam stated that targeting of innocent civilians by armed militants cannot be justified or accepted anywhere in the world.
He shared that the sudden outbreak of communal violence on May 3 has led to the irreparable loss of many precious lives and properties.
He continued that it is time for all the public leaders, politicians, CSOs & Youth Clubs to set aside their differences and come together to safeguard the integrity of Manipur.
The MLA also raised questions over the failure of the State Government to control the situation and restore law & order in Manipur.
Karam Shyam also expressed hope that the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be able to calm down the people of Manipur.
"The Union Home Minister will be able to find a peaceful solution and do justice to the people of Manipur", he added.
RUCO secretary, Waikhom Khelen appealed to the State & Central Government to cancel the SoO pact with Kuki militant groups and deploy State Forces instead of Central Forces on the outskirts of the valley.
Representatives of Tairenpokpi, Phayeng Ching, Kangchup Chingkhong, Singda- Kadangband, Koutruk and Senjam Chirang also took part in the meeting.
