Imphal, April 28 2019 2019:
Local clubs and Meira Paibis of Andro AC have boycotted MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar for allegedly misleading the public.
Notably, Th Shyamkumar was elected on Congress ticket from Andro AC before he switched allegiance to BJP.
Speaking to media persons at Azad High School, Yairipok Tulihal this afternoon on behalf of eight local clubs and Meira Paibi groups, social activist Khulem Tomchou said that an election rally of Congress party was held at Azad High School ground on April 10 under the aegis of Andro Block Congress Committee.
The rally was addressed by CLP leader Okram Ibobi, MPCC president Gaikhangam and Wang- khem AC MLA K Meghachandra.
An election meeting of BJP was held two days later on April 12 at Poiroukhonjin where Th Shyamkumar countered the statements by K Meghachandra at Azad High School ground.
In his reply, Shyamkumar misinterpreted Meghachandra's statements and the same was circulated to public through social media, Tomchou said.
Meghachandra said that Ngarian section of Imphal-Yairipok was too dilapidated and it was not repaired despite the presence of Minister Th Shyamkumar.
The Congress MLA said that the Ngarian road was similar to roads in Africa but he never compared the people of Andro AC with the people of Africa, Tomchou asserted.
Referring to Meghachandra's statements, Shyamkumar asserted that the Congress MLA was comparing the people of Andro AC with the people of Africa and the same speech was circulated in social media in the form of a video clip, Tomchou said.
He said that they listened minutely to the speeches of both the MLA and the Minister and recordings are available with them.
Meghachandra was only highlighting the deplorable condition of Ngarian road and it did not have any element of deriding the people of Andro AC, he asserted.
It was rather disheartening some people declared through media that MLA Meghachandra has been boycotted in Andro AC, Tomchou remarked.
He contended that the one who deserves social boycott is Th Shyamkumar.
He further declared that the eight organisations have resolved to boycott Th Shyamkumar.
