UNMM appeals

United NGOs Mission Manipur (UNMM) appealed the concerned 'Political Armed Groups' which were engaged in a gun fight last night to explore alternative approaches hereafter to avoid killing each other like at Wangli Village of Indo Myanmar border.
According to a press release issued by UNMM, the political armed activitist and national workers have the responsibility to protect and provide security to the people including the armed cadres.
The fight has led to the fear psychosis in the mind of the children and the villagers which felt unsafe while going at fields and other places for their livelihood.
The village head of Punomram, Kathing Comfort (45), S/o K Sangam and a truck driver, James Nambashi (37) S/o Chinaochin were arrested and tortured by the 27 Assam Rifle (AR) personnel of Kasom Khullen sub divison without an arrest memo.
UNMM has requested the concerned armed groups not to fight in and around the villages and has appealed to the concerned authorities to protect the lives of the civilians and to follow the International Humatarian Law.
The UNMM has further urged to the 27 AR to release the village Chief without any harm and delay.
