Farmers' bodies urge authorities concerned to allocate fertilizers at earliest

Shortage of fertilizers during the sowing season has become a common phenomenon in the State thereby adding more woes to the aggrieved farmers of the State.
All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) has urged the authorities concerned to issue urea fertilizers allocation at the earliest to alleviate the hardships of the farmers during the sowing season.
AMPFA in a press release appealed to the Ministers and MLAs to work earnestly to resolve the problems of the farmers and not to politicise the matter of fertilizers allocation.
Further the farmers' body sought the attention of the Agriculture Minister and urged him to fulfill his promise to provide fertilizers to the farmers at the appropriate time and to address the issues of the farmers in the State.
Voicing the same demands, Manipur Loumi Lup also urged all concerned to provide adequate fertilizers to the farmers latest by the end of June failing which the organisation cautioned that intense agitation will be carried out in association with the farmers of the State.
Manipur Loumi Lup in a press release also demanded for pumpsets in fields to ensure there is regular water supply.
Also the problems faced by the farmers of the State were discussed in length during Manipur Loumi Lup State Council meeting held yesterday and the resolutions were taken to work for the upliftment of farmers who are neglected by the authorities concerned most of the time, added the release.
