Speaking at the occasion, Kalraj Mishra stated that the Ministry of MSME has taken up several policies and programmes with the primary objectives of generating self employment avenues and addressing the issue of unem- ployment.
He cited certain schemes like Scheme for Promotion of Innovation, Rural Industry and Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) and Scheme of Fund for Regeneration and Traditional Industry (SFURTI).
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assertion that India can never be a developed country as long as the North East region languishes in underdevelopment, Kalraj Mishra assured that his Ministry would invest maximum efforts for development of cottage industries suitable to the region and other economic sectors for which the region has potential after taking into consideration the region's natural resources and salubrious climate.
He then appealed to all the people of Manipur to make the similar initiatives of Make in India and Make in Manipur a grand success.
Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that Manipur can be transformed into a peaceful, progressive State when the people of Manipur work with a commitment.
It is impossible for any Government to give Government jobs to all its citizens.
Nonetheless, the State Government has been working to develop necessary infrastructure for generation of enough self-employment avenues for the State's unemployed youth.
"We can be independent only when are self-reliant economically", Ibobi asserted.
MSME Minister of State Giriraj Singh and Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam too spoke at the gathering.
Later certificates were distributed to 24 people who have undergone training at the Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre (FFDC), Kannauj .
