Imphal, March 31 2019: Thoubal District Police has cracked a heinous crime that was committed on the intervening night of 23rd March 2019 and 24th March 2019 at Leirongthel Village under Nongpok Sekmai PS, Thoubal District.

The brief of the case: A complaint report in writing addressed to the Women Police Station (WPS) OC, Thoubal was received on 24th March 2019 afternoon, stating that on 23rd March 2019, at about 6.30 pm, one L.Ashakumar @ Kanta Singh (22 yrs) s/o Leishangthem Ningthem Singh of Yairipok Leirongthel enticed her minor daughter to elope for marrying and then wrongfully kept concealed in the custody of the accused person till the filing of the report.

Hence, an F IR was registered in the WPS-TBL, {FIR No.11 (03)2019, WPS-TBL u/s 366-A/368/34 IPC and Sec 4 POCSO Act 2012 added sec 302 IPC .

Immediately, on getting the report, under the supervision of SP/Thoubal a massive search operation at different parts of the district were conducted.

All the local people including the local elected representatives were also activated for detection of the case.

Since.

it's a case of minor person/girl all the officers and personnel including CDO-TBL under the supervision of the DIG Range-ll and SP/TBL took part in the searching task.

On, 25th March 2019 at about 1 PM information was received about a female dead body found at Leironthel Ngamu Leirou Thokpi Khong, Thoubal District.

On hearing that led by SP/TBL and all ranked officers rushed to the site immediately, and after due identification by the family members of the dead body we came to know that the dead body is of the missing minor girl, refers to the {FIR No.11 (03)2019, WPS-TBL u/s 366-A/368/34 IPC and Sec 4 POCSO Act 2012} .

A combined team of officers from WPS-TBL, experts from FSL, Pangei and Executive Magistrate from TBL DM conducted the inquest after conforming to formalities.

Simultaneously, under the strict supervision of DIG Range-ll, Sir and TBL/SP District Police and CDO-TBL continued the massive manhunt and could arrest the accused person, one L.Ashakumar @ Kanta Singh (22 yrs) s/o Leishangthem Ningthem Singh of Yairipok Leirongthel.

Upon his arrest, the accused person denied the charged levelled against him.

Again, under the supervision of DIG Range-ll, SP-TBL and an interrogation team led by Addl SP/LO and SDPO/TBL, Officers of Women PS have culled up all evidences and interrogated many persons who could provide us a clue regarding the case.

Finally, the accused person could not withstand the logical questions and queries put to him.

The accused has admitted that he has committed the crime.

Though he is a married man with a baby child.

from his version, we came to know that he still pretended to be a young unmarried man.

Expert opinions and Post Mortem reports are awaited and the present IO of the case.

SDPO/TBL assisted by the officers of WPS, TBL will be submitting the charge sheet of the case at the earliest as the investigation of the case is almost completed.

The District Police.

Thoubal feel the pulse of the sentiments of the public and also share the grief and agony going through by the bereaved family.

In this regard, the JAC formed in connection with this case is requested from the District Police to claim the dead body from the .JNIMS Mortuary so that the last rites of the decease could be performed.

The District Police is sleeplessly working on the case.

Last but not the least, the District Police, Thoubal is requesting all concern to Cooperate and share information with us to prevent from such kind of crime and others from happening to our District.
