Imphal, March 31 2019:
Expressing strong suspicion over possible hand of the State Government in the daring escape of under trial prisoner Th Nando from JNIMS Security Ward and possible murder of suspended Constable Md Manjur Ahamad to avoid leakage of a secret known to the Constable, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has demanded a thorough investigation into the twin incidents by CBI.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, MPCC spokesman Kh Joykisan questioned how Th Nando was allowed to escape from the security ward when he was on the verge of being convicted.
He said that the presence of the State Government's hand in Nando's daring escape cannot be ruled out.
It is also suspicious that Manjur Ahamad was murdered in the name of interrogation in connection with the escape of Nando so as to avoid certain secrets known to Manjur.
The Government's decision to institute a Magisterial enquiry is not enough or satisfactory.
The twin incidents should be handed over to the CBI and if the two cases are not entrusted to the CBI, MPCC would launch different modes of agitation, Joykisan said.
Saying that the BJP-led Government has been ruling the State like a dictator, Joykisan appealed to all the people to take serious note of the custodial death of Manjur Ahamad.
The BJP-led Government is obsessed with publicity and it never bothers to deliver what it assured or promised, Joykisan said.
After BJP president Amit Shah went on record that Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 would be brought back if BJP is re-elected to power, BJP National general secretary Ram Madhav stated yesterday that the Bill would not harm the North East including Manipur in any manner, Joykisan noted.
He then asked how Manipur would be left unaffected by a law which would be enforced throughout the country.
He further asked if the BJP leaders see all the indigenous people of Manipur as illiterate folks.
Saying that BJP has been floating all kinds of false propaganda against Congress party and its candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats of Manipur, Joykisan asked why the State Government has arrested O Nabakishore till date if he is an accused in the MDS scam.
It was the previous Government which wrote to the Vigilance Department to investigate into the MDS scam.
O Nabakishore was then serving as the Chief Secretary.
The then Chief Minister also approved the letter written to the Vigilance Department, he continued.
The incumbent Government's Cabinet decided to hand over the MDS scam to the CBI but the case has not been handed over to the CBI till date for reasons best known to them, he asserted.
It would not be proper to compare the Congress candidate with the BJP candidate who has been punished publicly.
BJP is a party whose basic principle is Hindutva and they are determined to saffronise the whole country.
He then urged the people to uproot BJP from the soil of Manipur.
