Prime accused in LFS blast arrested

The man who allegedly planted and triggered an IED at the gate of Little Flower School on June 5 has been arrested by Imphal West commandos.
Briefing media persons at his office today, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivkanta said that a team of Imphal West commandos rushed to Kangla Sangomsang area last night on getting specific information that some UG cadres involved in a number of bomb blasts which took place at different localities of Imphal recently were present there.
As the commando team cordoned off some suspected houses, an unknown person was seen running from the backside of a house which had been already cordoned off.
The man was rounded up and nabbed by the commandos.
One jar fitted with IED, one detonator fitted on a Cordtex wire measuring one feet, 58 PEK sticks weighing around 7.5 Kgs, three coils of Cordtex wire measuring around 52 feet, 397 detonators packed in boxes and two batteries were seized from his possession, Shivkanta said.

The arrested man identified as Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha (45) s/o Shelung of Kangla Sangomsang Makha Leikai disclosed that he has been an active member of the National Revolu- tionary Front of Manipur (NRFM), the SP conveyed.
He further disclosed that he has been working under the command of NRFM self styled commander Dhaballo who is presently based in Bangladesh.
Thounaojam Rishi further revealed that he planted the bombs which exploded at Nagamapal on May 5, Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai on May 6 and Little Flower School gate on June 5 .
According to the SP, Rishi further disclosed that the explosive substances were handed over to him by his commander through an unknown person in the month of January this year and he used to get Rs 30,000 per blast.
On searching his house, some mechanical tools including one soldering iron rod, one bolt cutter, one ratchet wire stripper, one cutter blade, 18 numbers of small iron rods and one electrical insulating tape which were allegedly used in assembling explosive substances were recovered.
The SP said that they also recovered one four-wheeler vehicle which was allegedly used in committing crimes.
The arrested person has been handed over to Lamlai police station, the SP added.
