UADC caretaker chairman Dr Yaronso resigns

Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) caretaker chairman Dr Yaronso Ngalung has tendered his resignation letter to DC Ukhrul, citing public interest as reason for relinquishing the post.
Dr Yaronso was made the caretaker chairman of UADC on June 4, 2021, six months after the tenure of UADC expired.
In another order issued by Manipur government on May 17 of the same year, Dr Yaronso Ngalung was asked to remain as the caretaker chairperson till holding of the ADC election.
As COVID-19 situation improved, Dr Yaronso appealed to government to make arrangement for conduct of ADC election at the earliest possible time.
He then strongly alleged that grassroots governance in hill districts suffered due to non-conduct of the ADC election in time.
Amidst this situation, Manipur government misused untied grant fund awarded to ADC by the 15th finance commission without consulting the council, he alleged further then.
